Once you have a real you should first submit it to every management company you can find there more likely to pick you up and then they can be your foot in the door to different agencies. If you have 2 good concise reals together you're ahead of the game.ģb. (this is a separate real) do that then add on any interesting accents you can do try and show a lil range then put a bow on it. But do a theatrical real too do a monologue something interesting and catchy for your voice. Its way easier to get your foot in the door with commercials rather than theatrical voice over work. copy a McDonalds commercial if you have to do 5 or 6 different commercials and boom you have a commercial real, you can shop that. You're Real should be as short as possible most of it will not be listened to. if you ever do get picked up by an agency they'll be sending you auditions constantly and most of them arnt in person so you will be sending them in. (line the wall with egg cartons if you can but not necessary.) This is the cheapest makeshift VO Studio you can make. you're going to buy a condenser mic, then your going to go in a closet with clothes hanging. OK here is where we get to the part of the list you should focus on. it's entertainment so they'll be fake friends but that's just the game, and who knows maybe you'll actually develop relationships worth while. Since you don't know anyone don't worry about this but keep it in mind if you ever get a gig or just around industry people. I've seen friends of current VO actors on a roster and friends and relatives of assistants get turned down simply because they're shitty. That's just life and having someone voice for you can get you in the door. Knowing somebody has always been and always will be a big advantage. but your new so you don't have this and thats ok everyone other than kids who got thrown into this life have to start with out this at some point. This trumps all else I've seen otherwise shitty voice actors remain on agents rosters simply because they booked a gig two years prior. ![]() If you've booked in the past you can book in the future. That being said here is a list of things that make you as a commodity something to be sought after and therefore likely to be signed to an agency. everything done on the agency side is looked at as on the basis of return on investment. You as a VO Actor or any actor for that matter are a commodity and are viedwed as such. The entertainment industry is very much like that, no black and white, everything operates in the grey. There aren't a set of qualifications needed to be picked up by an agency.
